A tart, sweet, and spicy cranberry sauce madewith fresh cranberries, orange, and jalapeño. This is the cranberry sauce Iactually look forward to eating, not just the one I feel obligated to put onthe table.
Combine the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, and orange zest in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most cranberries have popped and the sauce thickens.
Stir in the fresh jalapeño and ginger, then simmer another 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in the pickled jalapeño if using, along with the salt.
Cool at room temperature about 20 minutes, then chill in the fridge before serving.
Notes
Keeps in the fridge for about a week in a sealed container. Tastes better the day after it's made.
